Natural Hair Wigs Made From Human Hair

When people choose to dive into the world natural hair wigs in search of the best hair extensions and human hair wigs, the main priority is the style and the quality of the hair. When we talk about the quality of the hair, we not only talk about how well the hair is placed on the clips, wig caps, or wig tape: we are talking about the condition of the human hair as well as the type of the wig.

Whether you’re hair is thinning, or you simply just like wearing beautiful wigs, there are quite a few things you should know. The first thing you have to decide on, is whether you want a human hair wig or a synthetic version. Below, we’ll talk about the different types of wigs and why you should choose human hair before buying cheap wigs, made from artificial hair.

The two hair types for wigs

Synthetic hair wigs

Many people may see these on eBay and make an impulsive purchase, based on the extremely low price of cheap human hair wigs. Little do they know, they’re getting that price because the hair isn’t real and can’t be manipulated as well in comparison to realistic wigs.

Artificial hair burns under intense heat like a curling iron, straightener, blow dryer, etc. Because of the lack of real hair, they are mass-produced and usually aren’t installed very well onto wig caps or clips. While some synthetic wigs do allow heat, the hairline of synthetic wigs tends to look extremely unnatural and gives off cheap hair weave appearance with an overabundance of shine, making it look unrealistic.

Natural wigs

Natural hair wigs are typically made from a variety of types of hair that include human hair, wool, buffalo hair, and even horsehair. Some of this hair can be Indian hair, and others can be Brazilian hair. Many wigs are made from virgin hair, which means that they haven’t been dyed whatsoever. They are of better quality than processed types of wigs that are dyed unnatural colors, or bleached/lightened extremely light.

High quality human hair wigs are typically handcrafted with hand-tied strands installed into the cap. This is done for quality purposes to make each hair go the same way, to make it look more natural. A wig that’s created like this is typically more expensive.

Lower priced human hair wigs are often machine made and not handmade, so when they are in the machine, the direction of each strand will not be facing toward the same direction. Much like synthetic wigs, these are mass-produced quickly via machines, which make the hair of lower quality due to over-processing.

Three types of customizations for wigs

There are three types of customization options when it comes to wigs. Each type offers a different price range and a different level of quality. While there are two basic types of wigs, synthetic and human hair, there are three different types of construction methods. These three methods are:

  • Stock

  • Semi-custom

  • Custom made

The stock wig uses all synthetic materials and is mass-produced while not being handmade. Essentially, these are better price wise, but you will not be getting anything of decent quality.

With a semi-custom construction method, you will receive a combination of synthetic and natural hair within your wig. As one can imagine, this uses both methods of constructing a wig including hand and machine. This type of wig can be perfect for those who don’t want to splurge too much but want something a little better than a straight out synthetic wig.

Custom made wigs can also be a combination of synthetic and natural hair. In that case, the “custom” refers to the wigs being completely customized to the customer’s head shape, through measurements and careful crafting.
